GB Sans is a variable width, semi condensed, sans serif type family for use with GB Studio 3 available (currently) in –

  • Regular
  • Italic
  • Small caps

I'll continue to work on and improve the letter forms (as I use and look at them more in GB Studio projects) and expand the typeface to include other variants.

Open to all suggestions for improvements, just let me know.

Background

I wanted a variable width (not wide monospaced) typeface that could mix italics inline with regular for my next GB Studio project because I like doing that. GB Studio v3 opens up so many more options for type. Hopefully it's of use to other people and their projects as well.

Instructions for use

Add files into the fonts folder, within the assets folder in your game. To switch between fonts, use the command '!f' in your dialogue boxes.

Usage
You're welcome to use in your projects and I'd love to see what people use it for. I'd appreciate a credit if you do use it.

This font looks sooo good. That it also saves me space and lets me cram more words in tiny space is just - chef’s kiss

Using it in my metroidvania gamejam game right now and am loving it!

Awesome, looking forward to checking your game out!

Thanks so much! I was about to suffer in typography-crafting hell and you have SAVED me. You will definitely get a credit from me, that I can promise.

Glad it's useful to you! If you spot any issues let me know, I'm continuously refining as and when I use a certain combination of characters/symbols in my game, so always looking to improve it.
